A 3-ingredient classic that never goes out of style.
- 2 oz. rye whiskey
- 1 oz. sweet vermouth
- 3-4 dashes angostura bitters
Mix all ingredients in a cocktail beaker with ice until chilled. Strain into a chilled martini* glass & garnish with a cherry.
*note: you have a few glassware options to serve this cocktail, depending on what you have available in your simple home bar. Read on below…
It’s only 3 ingredients, yet endlessly customizable. The Manhattan should be a staple in every simple home bar because it’s an adaptable drink.
Don’t have rye? Use bourbon.
Don’t have cherries? Garnish with a lemon twist.
And while the traditional glassware for the Manhattan is a Nick & Nora (shown above) or a coupe, many bars still opt for the standard martini glass. Still, if you don’t have any of those options on-hand, serve this delicious drink on the rocks in a lowball.
That’s the point of Simplehomebar.com anyway — to make it easy to enjoy great drinks. (Though, we do recommend investing in glassware. It’s those little details that make the difference).
